The meeting
Whether it be over a coffee, in the pub or over Skype, the first step with every project is to get to know you and your business.

The estimate
After assessing your requirements we'll build you straight-forward, itemised estimate, a plain English contract and set out clear milestones and deliverables.

2. Building the foundations
Getting to know your customers and making a start on solving their problems.

User personas and sitemaps
We categorise your customers and address their needs specifically, designing the sites structure and flow around their needs, and your goals.

Live prototypes
Instead of stale, static wireframes, we've developed our own system for providing you with clickable, fully interactive responsive prototypes, so you can get a real feel for how your site works, before we start deciding how it should look.
User testing

If you already have a site we can run it through a variety of testing scenarios and find out exactly what's working and what's not. We can also perform testing on the prototypes, designs and finished site - giving us (and you) a greater insight into how the site is achieving its goals.

FAQ

1. How much do you charge?
Every project has different needs, and every client a different budget. Because of this we price projects on an individual basis and provide fixed costs, based on our day rate of £560 (plus VAT, where applicable). We push budgets as far as they can go, and work hard to ensure that your money is being invested in the right areas.

2. How long will the project take, and when can you start?
The length of the project will depend on your budget, the work required and your deadline - after all every project is different. However most of our projects range from 2-12 weeks in length, depending on complexity. We can generally make a start on a new project within 3-6 weeks, but if you have very restricted time requirements please get in touch as soon as possible and we'll take a look at our diary.

3. Can you show us some more work?
We've hand picked the work in our portfolio to show a variety in terms of the clients we work with and the work that we do, we think it's a pretty good showcase; but if you're desperate to see a specific example, or simply eager to see more of our lovely work then feel free to get in touch.

4. What is your work process?
We use powerful, online software to manage our work, which provides great collaborative (and transparent) tools to plan and discuss your project at every step. Our easily digestible, tried and tested web design process can be found on our process page.

5. How do you handle payments?
Depending on the size of the project we either take a 50% deposit, or set up a more specific payment schedule. We can accept PayPal for any individual payment up to £1000, any larger and we only accept bank/wire transfer or cheque. Deposits are due on receipt and all other payments are due within 7 days of issuing the invoice.

6. Do you work with international clients?
We're based in England, but we've worked with people from every corner of the globe, and from every time zone. There are a few countries that provide a challenge (Australia, we're looking at you) but we've never had any workflow issues and work hard to ensure communication is easy and that we can be reached whenever needed.

7. Do you work with start-ups?
Yes! We love working with passionate new businesses, you guys are the future and we want to be a part of your exciting journey. We're not angel investors though, so no profit-share offers please.

8. Why choose DW&Associates over a freelancer?
The advantage of working with us over a larger, network agency is clear; we're more agile, easier to get hold of, and we cost less. But you get the same advantages working with a freelancer, so why work with us? Well, we may be a small team, but we're still a team. You're not only getting more man power, but also variety. Our team has different professional backgrounds, hobbies, tastes and skill sets - and these things are really important when striving for objective greatness, something we specialise in. We also cost less than hiring your own small team of freelancers, in fact if you were to hire just 2 good freelancers it would cost you more. Crazy right?

9. Do you pitch for work?
Occasionally, but as a rule we prefer not to. We're after quality collaborative relationships with clients, and we don't feel that the traditional presentation format is particularly useful for either party. We'd much rather discuss your project with you and see if we're a good fit; competing for work starts things off on the wrong foot.

10. Do you take on overflow work from other agencies?
Yes, we offer a completely white label service for other agencies looking to outsource overflow work to us. Please get in touch to discuss what we can do for you.

11. Great, I'd like to work with you, what next?
First things first, get in touch and say hello. We can have a chat about you, your business and the project you have in mind. If you already have a brief then feel free to send it straight over, however we understand that you might want us to take control of the project and so a long detailed brief isn't always required.

Budgets are also really important, if you have one please let us know, as quite often this can be what defines the scope of the project in terms of what can be done and how much of our time can be provided. Everyone's budget is different and we can cater for most.

We don't like paperwork any more than you do, so our contracts are written in plain English without a smidgen of legalese; our communication is always clear and we work transparently. Partnering with a design agency shouldn't be as complicated as buying a house, so we make sure it isn't.

We don't participate in spec work, which means that we can keep our rates down and focus instead on tangible projects with the best possible value for both us and our clients. We also don't pay any fancy client managers to butter you up, which again has cost savings, but more importantly means that you're talking to the people that matter and not just a salesman. We'll still charm the pants off you, but for all the right reasons.

We do the work we do because we love it. We love producing engaging content that meets goals and really achieves something, and we like working with switched-on clients that are willing to work with us to get the most out of their proposition. We think that this is one of the main reasons people love working with us, as we don't see the beginning of a new project as a 'win', but instead the start of a long and fruitful relationship.
